I love to make films with my dogs.  One of these days I might try dressing them up as super heroes and make a film, but for now I’ll let them be dogs. I have been writing short film scripts and I try to include a dog in each story.  Here is one of my recent ones, filmed and acted by colleagues from Raindance Film Organization Toronto. It was a program called Filmmaker’s Sandbox.  A team of “students” met for the first time and we had only 3 hours to make a short film.  I sent in my script a couple weeks earlier and was thrilled to hear they wanted to use mine.  It was a fast shoot, but also a great learning experience.  Luckily, we ran into a dog walker I knew so we were able to have a dog in the film after all.                                                                                                                                                                                   …and the Oscar goes to… Max the Dog!

Here are some behind the scenes clips for the making of The Words:

After meeting the crew who worked on the short film I wrote, The Words, we got together to film another short and traded roles. Kevin was the writer and producer this time, Carlos was the cinematographer again, and this time I was the director.

SMASH – The Punk Rock Film

Here’s a project I’ve been working on… Inspired by the music of my favorite band, The Offspring. I’m in the process of showcasing it around to see if there’s interest in pursuing it. I have a screenplay and a treatment completed. Now, here is the trailer. I’m searching for the right people! Check out some behind the scenes clips of the making of SMASH here.

This is my old dog Kylie.  My dog was cast in this short film. Kylie stars as Milo in this wonderful and quirky film by Andrew Hull. She received a full screen credit for the character of Milo and I received a screen credit for “dog wrangler.” The cast and crew were amazing and Mary Margaret O’Hara was so sweet to both Kylie and me. It was truly a great experience and I love that I have this awesome keepsake. These are the clips she was in… for the full movie you can go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRnvyonoP2k  and then for the 2nd part,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeRfomxQgR8&feature=endscreen&NR=1

Music by my favorite Canadian Singer/Songwriter Tom Cochrane.  From his Mad Mad World album this is Sinking Like a Sunset.

Gringo Bandito is a hot sauce made by Dexter Holland, lead singer of The Offspring. This is Herman, he was my favorite dog. RIP Herman and thanks for all the great memories! We shot this in one take. He was such a pro! Music by The Offspring, “All I Want.”
